Building Futures

The Hawes Building team are proud to announce our involvement in the Enterprise Adviser Network (EAN).

Launched by Skills East Sussex, the Enterprise Adviser Network (EAN) helps secondary schools and colleges create long-term careers education, information, advice and guidance strategies.

The scheme works by connecting Enterprise Advisers to local schools in order for them to support in activities promoting career paths and employability skills in students.

With new data released by the Office for National Statistics this year showing that construction has dropped from 7th to 12th of the top ranked jobs for young people, Hawes are delighted to be part of this initiative to encourage successful career pathways.

Hawes Director, Sarra Hawes, has been appointed as Enterprise Adviser to the College Central school in Eastbourne, part of The SABDEN Multi Academy Trust which provides specialised education to young people who demonstrate challenging behaviour and whom may have social, emotional, mental health difficulties (SEMH).

Part of Sarra’s monthly commitment to the school will be to raise awareness of the variety of available roles within the construction industry, conduct mock interviews with the students, advising on the skills looked for by potential employers and discussing the practical applications of maths skills within the workplace.

Excited to start her new role, Sarra explains;

With a shortage of young people and gender diversity coming into our industry, this is one way I feel we can make a real impact, by giving our support directly to education.

At Hawes we are passionate about having a positive influence on our local community and I am just really happy to be able to give up my time in this way.
