Candidates with Convictions

With skills shortages meaning that now over half of all UK employers are struggling to fill vacancies, and re-offending rates of prisoners proven to decrease with employment opportunities, working with prisons to offer training and employment opportunities makes good business sense.

Last week, Hawes Building visited HMP Rochester in Kent to do just that.

Attending the Employer’s Event, Hawes Director Sarra Hawes interviewed inmates at the prison, to build relationships with candidates due for release, and equip them with experience and advice.

There is definitely an untapped resource for employers within our prisons.”
