Toni & Guy – Eastbourne
The manageress of Eastbourne’s Toni & Guy, Stacey, approached Sarra with a refurbishment concept she had for her high street salon. She needed more space for her thriving business to have more hairdressers to cope with demand. There were no drawings but she knew what she wanted.
Between them they devised a plan and details of how the salon would achieve its new look. The challenge was to do the work in a small window of time as the salon would need to close. This would result in possibly disgruntled customers and loss of revenue.
We also were unsure of what we would find when we opened up old walls and removed furniture. So, a duration of nine days was allocated just before the start of the busy build up to Christmas.
The existing reception area was to be removed and replaced with a wall of mirrors with a floating shelf (fitted with sockets and a point to charge mobiles), stainless steel skirting and footrail. Almost doubling the usable space and therefore an increase in happy customers.
A middle area, which had become unused as it was not practical, was also fitted with mirrors and a floating shelf, increasing usable space.
A new reception desk and wardrobe were to be constructed and placed in a more central position to create a more welcoming environment. The rear area of the salon was to be completely overhauled, replacing the three existing hair wash basin chairs with four new state of the art chairs (including a massage chair).
In addition, the windows were blocked off and a door and wall were also removed to increase the space. The walls were then tiled retro style with white metro tiles, with grey grout to match the new floor tiles.
A survey was carried out by a lighting company of the whole salon, so that the insufficient existing lighting could be replaced with suitable lighting to enable the staff to work safely and productively.
As we worked we salvaged any existing floor tiles to patch in areas once walls and furniture were removed. This resulted in our tilers producing a seamless floor, with no evidence of any patching in.
The whole salon was then given a lick of paint to refresh the overall look.
The final result was completed within the time scale and budget, and looks amazing with both staff and clients very pleased with the result.
- With Hawes Building Ltd project managing the works, the client knew all aspects of the work were included and the works would be of a high quality in the short contract period.
- The salon is now a well-lit, spacious and welcoming environment for staff and clients.
- The area will now improve productivity, therefore increasing revenue.
